Painting animals in Pastel
Oct. 19-20-21
All Levels
$295
Join Dawn Emerson for this 3-day intensive workshop on painting animals in pastel. Emphasis will be on discovering inspiration through sketching and on maintaining a feeling of spontaneity throughout the finished piece. First you will sketch from life, to get the feel of the animal’s gestures and movement and it’s coloration and structure. Then you will use those sketches and reference photographs to develop a painting with strong design, composition, bold use of color and effective backgrounds. Dawn will also demonstrate on a variety of surfaces using several pastel techniques to illustrate different qualities of the animal. Photographing animals will also be covered.
Dawn studied art at Brown University and the Rhodes Island School of Design. She has exhibited her work nationally and internationally and has won numerous awards.
